Drawing is very rarely regarded as a skill that can be taught leaving many people feeling they are only ‘allowed’ to draw if they ‘have talent’. We think this is absolute poppycock.
We welcome individuals of all skill levels to take this drawing course, and we enthusiastically encourage absolute beginners and those just starting to discover their artistic style to join us. The course focus is on fostering effective communication, and we tailor our instruction to meet the needs of each student. There are no judgments based on ‘ability’ because we understand that we all learn from one another. If you have any questions about skill levels, don't hesitate to contact us.
This is not your ordinary drawing course. Our primary emphasis lies in visually conveying those elusive ideas swirling in your mind. This skill is not only invaluable for collaborating effectively in teams and pipelines but also for discovering your own ideas. Drawing is an exciting journey of self-discovery, allowing you to uncover WHAT your ideas even are.
Throughout this course, we will delve into strategies and techniques for extracting those ideas and embracing the importance of 'failure' and 'bad drawing' as integral parts of the creative process. We celebrate rough sketching, playful exploration, and the freedom to make marks. These aspects form crucial pillars of all creative production, from personal development, independent game all the way up to professional big-league multinational studios.
We will cover the fundamentals of proportion, perspective, form, human anatomy, and, most importantly, gesture. These foundational principles will be taught in a routine, accessible, and methodical manner, just as kids learn basic arithmetic operations. We will also explore instinctive mark-making and encourage non-judgmental exploration of style. We also teach you how to adapt your learning to your strengths and interests, because ultimately, this course is about how to allow your own voice to emerge visually and frictionlessly, setting you up for a lifetime of creative exploration.
